HILDA BARUCH
Hilda was 17 in 1936 when Franco rebelled against the
newly elected Spanish Government, starting the Civil war.
As a woman she could not volunteer to fight but worked tirelessly.
to aid the Spanish people and the families and dependents
Like many others Spain politicised Hilda.
of those who had left home to fight for the elected Government:
She lived campaigning against racism and war and
in support of women's rights and all working people
in the context of caring for her family and friends.
Rest awhile and reflect on what we owe to these lives.
