Emanuel Pinto de Fonseca was
Malta's 25th Grand Master and
hailed from Portugal. He was Grand
Master of the Knights of St John.
In 1752, Grand Master Pinto built the
18th century stores that now form part
of the Valletta Waterfront.
During the restoration process, the doors were
revived with an artistic impression of colour.
The colours signify the storage of goods with
blue for fish, green for produce, yellow for
wheat and red for wine.
