THIS BENCH IS A MEMORIAL OF THEM AND THEIR FIVE DAUGHTERS, WINNIE, NORAH, MONA, GLADYS AND DOREEN, FROM ALL THEIR FAMILY IN ENGLAND AND THE ISLE OF MAN New plaque: ISLE OF MAN STEAM RAILWAY 150 YEARS ANNIVERSARY ON THE OCCASION OF THE ABOVE, THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR AND LADY LORIMER TRAVELLED TO SANTON STATION ON 3RD AUGUST 2024 AND WERE GREETED BY THE CAPTAIN OF THE PARISH ON ARRIVAL AT THE STATION. IN CELEBRATION OF THE ANNIVERSARY THIS NEW BENCH WAS PRESENTED TO THE STEAM RAILWAY TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL GIVEN AFTER THE WAR BY THE GELLING FAMILY WHICH IS NOW IN A POOR STATE OF REPAIR! THE NEW BENCH IS PLACED IN THE STATION BY:- DONALD JAMES GELLING C.B.E. C.P. AND HIS WIFE JOAN FRANCES, AUGUST 2024.
